This vintage pen was made in England by Parker in the 50’s. Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Its contribution to design is evidenced by its display in the Design Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and it has been marketed as 51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular model has a blue/green body, a colour Parker termed "Teal Blue" and a Parker rolled gold cap. The body is in good condition with only minor age wear. The Parker 51 nib is a medium smooth writer. The rolled gold cap is also in good condition with only minor age wear and a slightly darker than usual end jewel. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. Parker 51’s are not only a collector’s item but also an excellent everyday workhorse. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless otherwise stated and are bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request. Filling instructions will be sent with your order.

This fountain pen was manufactured by Sheaffer in the United States of America from 1959 to 1963. Regarded by some as “the best fountain pen ever” this Sheaffer is called the PFM (Pen For Men) due to its large size and (then) new bold styling. It was advertised as “the complete pen for today’s active man” and “America’s newest and finest pen”. These days it is equally popular and appropriate for females who prefer a larger size fountain pen. This model, the PFM V, was near the top of the range with its gold fill chased cap and clip sporting the Sheaffer white dot. The barrel and nib area is Navy Blue plastic and the base of the barrel has a gold fill trim. The (at the time) newly designed Sheaffer 14ct gold inlaid nib states “Sheaffer’s 14kt Made in U.S.A.” and has a fine point. The “clean” filling method is via a “snorkel” (named after the tube-breathing submarines of the Second World War) which extends from the nib end of the pen, combined with a piston fill. It is in fair to good condition overall with some age wear, pitting to the barrel base trim and some slight movement on the cap clip but these imperfections are reflected in the price. It measures 13.5cm with cap on and 14.4cm with cap on barrel end. A classic vintage pen in fair to good order to either add to a collection or use as an everyday workhorse. It comes complete with a copy of the original filling instructions. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request.

This vintage pen, which Waterman called the Lady Patricia, was created in 1930 for the female hand, following the successful sales of the Waterman Patrician range – a much larger fountain pen aimed primarily at the male market. The Stationery Trades’ Journal of the time (November 1930) praised its “slender careful lines and smart modish colour” It was marketed as having a “smart, modern, feminine cap clasp – holding the pen securely in place, even in the most crowded handbag.” The first Lady Patricia was presented to Miss Amy Johnson (1903-1941) the English female aviator who carried a Waterman fountain pen during her daring solo flight from England to Australia. It was marketed in a range of colours – this one is called Jade Green.  The cap top, clip, single decorated cap band and lever are gold fill. It has a Waterman Ideal Canada No.2 nib in a medium to slightly broad point which is a pleasure to use. This delightful, and quite rare, vintage pen is in fair to good condition with an imprint which states “Waterman’s Fountain Pen, Reg. Made in Canada” with the Waterman’s “Ideal” lozenge. There is some slight colour variation between the cap and barrel as is common with this finish but not to the extent that it detracts from the pen. You will also note from the photograph that there is some wear to the gold fill trim on the lever and the cap band and it is also discreetly engraved with the name “A. CRABTREE”. Hence it is listed in fair to good condition and this is reflected in the price. It is a small pen measuring 11cm with cap on and 13.7cm with cap on barrel end. It is a true reflection of its period and this Lady will provide many years of writing pleasure. This vintage pen was not serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. but has passed our quality tests and will be further bench tested before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request and filling instructions will be sent with your order.

This delightful vintage pen and pencil set was made by Waterman’s around 1925 in a “Ripple” finish which was particularly popular at the time - and remains so today. The fountain pen has a ring top. Advertisements of the time stated “These types are appropriate for women and conveniently carried on silk guards”, however they were also used by men to hang, for example, from their watch chain. A slim ribbon, chain or handbag clip will suffice today. The pen has one broad gold fill cap band (some plating wear)and a warranted 14k No.3 nib which is more of a fine than a medium point. The model number (52v) is stated on the barrel end. The pencil which, as with the pen, is in working order and recently serviced, has “Waterman’s” “Pat. Applied for” around the top with a slim gold fill band. It takes a 1.2mm diameter lead (Yard O’Led for example will suffice). There is some variation between the depth of colour of the pen and pencil – obviously one has been used more than the other over the years. The length of the pen is 11cm/pencil 10cm not including ring top. Overall they are in good condition and a fine set reminiscent of the 1920’s. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request.

This Parker “51” Trio of vintage fountain pen, expel/repel pencil and ballpoint are all in working order. The “51” aerometric filling fountain pen was introduced by Parker in 1948. Its aerodynamic design made it a classic and the plaudits it received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Towards the end of the 50’s Parker extended the “51” range to include Trio sets of which this is a good example. They were understandably popular at the time. This particular trio has a wine coloured body a colour which Parker called “Burgundy”. They are all fitted with the Parker rolled gold cap. All three items are in good condition with only minor age wear, slightly more on the ballpoint as is to be expected and all are complete with unfaded cap jewels.  The Parker 51 nib is a fine to medium smooth writer. The ballpoint takes modern Parker refills – you will note that the tip of the ballpoint is metal rather than rolled gold. The expel/repel pencil is in working order, however there is no longer access to the rubber contained inside the cap – this is reflected in price. It will take modern day replacement leads. The fountain pen measures 13.8cm with cap on and 15cm with cap on barrel end. The rotary pencil measures 12.5cm and the ballpoint 13cm. A good vintage writing trio to either add to give as a gift or for personal use as an everyday writing set for the home or office. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless advised otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge upon request.

This attractive vintage fountain pen was manufactured by Conway Stewart in England in 1937. It is called “The Universal Pen - No.466” and is in a finish termed burgundy pearl and black. The cap has the Conway branded rolled gold clip with the then new diamond shaped end. The barrel imprint states “The Universal Pen – Conway Stewart London – No. 466” around the bottom of the barrel it states “Made in England” and it carries the Conway branded lever. Condition overall is good with very minor age wear to the body and cap but a fair amount of age wear to the rolled gold trim as can be seen in the photograph – however this is reflected in the price. The nib states “Conway Stewart 14ct Gold 1”. It has a medium point and is a pleasing writer. It is a fairly slim pen measuring 12cm with cap on and 15.1cm with cap on barrel end in length.  Suitable as an everyday writer or to fill a gap in a Conway collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. This vintage pen was made in England by Parker, according to the barrel date, in the second quarter of 1952. This particular model has a wine coloured body and a rolled gold cap. It is good condition overall with some surface wear and one minor ding on the cap to the left of the clip, which I have highlighted in the photograph – these minor imperfections are reflected in the price. The Parker 51 nib, which is undated, has a fine leading to medium nib. It measures 14cm with cap on and 15.2cm with cap on barrel end. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. This small Parker Duofold vintage fountain pen was made in England at the Newhaven factory around 1941 and is a classic Parker fountain pen of the period. The finish is in a pleasing light and dark green pearl with gold fill trim. It has a barrel imprint which is unique to the Newhaven factory stating: “Parker Duofold – Geo. S. Parker – Reg. TM.” The Parker medium point nib states “Parker Duofold Pen 14k N” and is a pleasing writer. The Parker cap has two thin gold fill cap bands and sports a Parker ball ended clip. This vintage pen is a button filler – you undo the cap at the end of the barrel to reveal a button – depress the button and you deflate the sac – let go of the button and the ink fills the sac – easy. It is in good condition with only minor age wear as can be seen in the photograph. It is a short pen measuring 11.5cm with cap on and 14.5cm with cap on barrel end, slimmer than the standard Junior and is ideal for the smaller hand. A vintage pen in a rare colour from a first class manufacturer – ideal to add to a collection or for everyday use. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless otherwise stated and are bench tested prior to offering for sale. Safety pens were primarily made between 1907 and 1940 – this particular example dates from around 1920 possibly slightly earlier. They use the barrel of the pen as an ink reservoir rather than an internal rubber sac and a spiral retractor mechanism for the nib section. They were felt to be “safe” due to the non-leakable joint when the cap is firmly screwed on the barrel. Whilst the standard production had a hard rubber finish, gold or silver overlays, such as this one, were created to meet the demand of the more discerning customer. This particular safety pen forms part of the “Continental” series – European designs added to the basic hard rubber base produced, for example, by Waterman but without the inclusion of a manufacturer’s name. This safety has a Waterman nib but there is no other indication that it was manufactured by Waterman – hence I have not attributed it to that manufacturer. It has an unusual silver overlay design which is particularly pleasing and is in good condition with a working spiral mechanism, however, despite careful restoration it does have some ink release from the twist end and therefore I would prefer to sell it as a collector’s item rather than a working vintage pen. It has a screw on cap which was an improvement on the original friction caps. The nib is a broad point and states “Waterman’s Ideal Junior – Canada – FDW”. I see from the photograph that I have left some nib on the ink following testing, naturally this will be removed prior to posting.  It is a small, but chunky vintage pen measuring 9.7cm with cap on. To fill a safety pen which is in working order, you hold the pen upright and unscrew the cap. At this point the pen nib is inside the barrel. Drop ink (with an eyedropper) into the open end (from which the cap was removed) to about half an inch from the top. Keeping the open end upright, place the cap on the bottom of the barrel and turn it to the right. This will bring the nib out of the barrel to enable you to write and seal the ink inside. To transport the pen safely, you turn the cap on the bottom of the barrel to the left which retracts the nib back into the barrel and screw the cap onto the open end of the pen to seal the barrel. If you screw the cap on firmly the ink will not escape however you carry it, provided the seals are intact. Safety pens, particularly those in good cosmetic order are quite rare. This is a delightful example to add to a vintage fountain pen collection. A gift box is available upon request.

The magnificent “51 Flighter” was introduced by Parker in the U.S.A. in 1949. This particular example whilst featuring the rolled gold cap band which was subsequently dropped, is slightly later – estimated at 1953. The cap and barrel are in a metal Parker termed “lustraloy” a finish which visually aligned it to the aircraft which inspired its design. The advertising at its launch, which also stressed its dependability and durability stated: “The Flighter…a new Parker “51”. Here is a foretaste of the future – a smooth writing beauty fashioned in a modern mood. Beneath its silvery exterior, there’s the most advanced pen ever created…” .

The aerodynamic design of the Parker 51 fountain pen has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Its contribution to design is evidenced by its display in the Design Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and it has been marketed as 51…the world’s most wanted pen”.  This particular model with its lustraloy finish and gold fill cap band, cap tassle and arrow clip is a classic vintage Parker. It has a Parker 51 fine to medium nib. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release four times and this vintage pen is ready to use.

This is a fair to good example of a rare and classic vintage Parker fountain pen. It has some age wear to both body and trim and this is reflected in the price. It measures 13.8cm with cap on 15cm with cap on barrel end. The Parker “51” is a stylish pen and an excellent everyday workhorse. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch.
