Parker Lady Duofold Chinese Red | Stock number: 1614 |

Fine to Medium nib, Button fill system. |
Sold |
This stylish and classic Parker vintage pen and pencil were made in America around 1928 specifically for the female customer. The Duofold range was extremely popular and this pen, the “Lady Duofold” was similar to the Junior model but with a ring top rather than a clip. It is in a colour they termed “Chinese Red”. It has a broad 12ct gold plated cap band and a Chatelaine ring. It was designed to be hung around the neck by a ribbon or chain and, of course, the same could be done today. Equally it could be carried on a handbag keyring or simply used as a desk pen. It is a small, slim pen measuring 11.6cm with cap on and 14.5cm with cap on barrel end. The strong barrel imprint reads “Geo S. Parker Fountain Pen – Lady Duofold – Janesville – Lucky Curve – WIS - USA PAT 4-25-11”. It has a fine to medium point Parker Duofold nib. Its condition is good with only minor age wear. This vintage pen is a button filler which means that you unscrew a blind cap at the end of the barrel to reveal a button which you press to expel the air in the sac and depress to allow the ink to enter – a clean and efficient filling method. The matching pencil also has a ring top. You will note the corresponding black edging design on pencil and pen. It is a rotary pencil which means you rotate the cap to expel and repel the lead. Originally it would have had a rubber underneath the pencil blind cap but this has long since been used. It can be refilled with 1.2mm Yard O’led replacement leads. The text on the barrel of the pencil reads “Parker Duofold U.S.A.”. An added bonus is the Parker hard top box. The cream lining provides a pleasing backdrop to the “Chinese Red” and it carries the Parker branding inside the lid. The green exterior has some wear and some ink staining on the rear but overall, with its satisfying snap shut clasp, it is a worthy carrier of these vintage classics. Suitable to add to a collection or to use as everyday writers. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. and bench tested prior to offering for sale. Merlin No.33 Wine with black stripe | Stock number: 1032 |

Fine to medium nib, Button fill system. |
Sold |
This Merlin No.33 vintage pen was made in Germany around 1950. It is a very serviceable economy line button filling pen. Being 12cm (4½ inches) long with the cap on, and 14cm with cap on barrel end, it is a good size for the smaller hand. This particular example has a wine and black line finish with a gold tone clip. Whilst it is a vintage pen it has not previously seen much use and therefore the fine-medium Merlin 14ct gold nib will smooth to suit your hand. Condition is good with minor wear to the clip and cap band. I now have only a limited amount of these ex-old factory Merlins left to sell and they have proved to be very popular economy pens – this is from the last batch. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless otherwise stated and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request and filling instructions will be sent with your order.

Sheaffer Targa Regency Stripe | Stock number: 5364 |

Medium nib, Cartridge fill system. |
£135.00 |
|
Price: £135.00 | |
This vintage pen is one of the successful Targa range - a model produced by the Sheaffer Pen Company from 1976 to 1999. This particular version was available between 1985 and 1996. The pattern is called “Regency Stripe” - as you can see with its contrasting black trim it is quite striking. It has the stylish Sheaffer 14ct gold inlaid nib with a medium point which states "Sheaffer U.S.A. 585 14k". Condition is good. The original sticker is on the side of the cap and it reads “Sheaffer 675 Medium”. You will see from the photograph that there is minimum age wear. As you would expect it has the Sheaffer "Lifetime" dot on the clip. Filling is by insertion of an ink cartridge, preferably Sheaffer but an international cartridge size will suffice. In common with other cartridge fill pens when first fitting a new cartridge you need to encourage the ink to flow through from the cartridge to the nib with a slight squeeze of the cartridge. It is quite a heavy, substantial pen in the hand and measures 13.7cm with cap on and 15.5cm with cap on end. The Targa range is fast becoming highly collectible and with its large range of finishes is an interesting model to collect as well as a pleasure to use everyday. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request.

Medium to slightly broad nib, Aerometric fill system. |
£195.00 |
|
Price: £195.00 | |
This vintage fountain pen was made in England by The Parker Pen Co. The aerodynamic design of the Parker “51” has made it a classic and this version was launched in 1949 when Parker first introduced its aerometric (squeezebox) filling system. With advertising stating it was “especially created for those who enjoy the finer things in life” it quickly became a popular model for the more discerning customer. It was so popular that it came to the attention of another company using the name “Signet” and Parker’s legal division were forced to change the name. Hence from 1957 it became known at the Insignia. The Parker nib states “14k - Parker - Made in England 59” (for 1959) and has a medium to slightly broad point. The finish is in a 1/10 12k rolled gold overlay covering the main body and the cap – with a black nib shell. Condition in my view is fair to good only and this is reflected in the price. The Parker “jewel” on the cap crown is darker than you would expect, the bottom of the barrel has some minor indentations and there is general overall wear as can be seen from the montage. That said it has a good medium to slightly broad nib bearing the 1959 date and it is not engraved. It measures 13.9cm with cap on and 15.7cm with cap on barrel end. So obviously a well used vintage fountain pen, now ready to be pressed back into service as a general everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request. Source: Parker “51” – David and Mark Shepherd

Parker Vacumatic - Green Mottled Pearl | Stock number: 1633 |

Medium nib, Vacumatic fill system. |
£145.00 |
|
Price: £145.00 | |
This vintage fountain pen was made by Parker around 1937 and is a good example of the first generation of this very successful Parker model called the “Vacumatic”. Originally launched in 1932 as the “Vacuum Filler”, it was advertised as holding 102% more ink than other pens available at the time. The barrel is used as the ink reservoir rather than an ink sac which increases the ink capacity. Filled by a then new style vacuum pump mechanism on the barrel end, it was also advertised as “revolutionary in principle and perfectly marvellous in performance”. It became an accepted and reliable filling method which was also initially used for the Parker 51. You will see from the photographs that this first generation model has the lockdown fill system – which means that the plunger locks down to a shorter length which allowed them to use a short decorative blind cap on the barrel rather than the longer plain one on later models. It was available in a variety of finishes, this example, which was made in Canada, is in a finish termed “Green Mottled Pearl”. The barrel imprint states “Parker Vacumatic – Reg Tm’s - Pat. No. 318982 17 – Made in Canada.” TheParker medium point nib has the Parker arrow design and states “Parker Vacumatic Reg. T.M. Made in Canada 27”. The cap has the Parker gold fill feather arrow clip and two thin gold fill cap bands and the cap clip ring has the registration number 784404 in line with Canadian production. The cap and barrel tassel have decorative ends. It is a chunky vintage pen measuring 12.2cm with cap on and 14.6cm with cap on barrel end. Condition is good with only minor age wear, more noticeably towards the bottom of the barrel, and slight brassing to trim. An interesting and stylish vintage fountain pen suitable for everyday use or to add to a vintage fountain pen collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless otherwise stated and are bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request. Filling instructions will be sent with your order.

Waterman 452 - Pansy Panel | Stock number: 5488 |
![]() Click for a larger version of this picture.
Medium nib, Lever fill system. |
Sold |
This well used yet still elegant and attractive vintage fountain pen was made by Waterman in the mid 1920’s. It is their number “452” and the explanation for this model number was provided to retailers by Waterman at the time - the 452 indicates a sterling silver overlay on a base of hard rubber with barrel and cap covered. The pattern chased onto the silver overlay is called “Pansy Panel” – you will see from the photograph the alternating panels of smooth silver and the attractive pansy decoration. The cap, which has a Waterman accommodation clip has “Waterman’s Sterling” around the lip. The barrel states “Sterling” Made in U.S.A.” around the lip and the lever carries the Waterman “Ideal” logo. The model numbering is, as to be expected, on the bottom of the barrel and towards the bottom of the barrel you will find the words “Reg. U.S. PAT. OFF. Made in U.S.A.”. The smooth medium nib states “Waterman’s Ideal England” and is a wet writer. It will be obvious from the montage that this pen has, as I have said, been well loved and also well used. The lozenge is engraved - I think with the name “Fleur” which is rather fitting considering the pattern. The lever box area appears to have sustained some buckling over the years, the nib would originally have had USA markings, there is some wear to the silver and the accommodation clip has replaced its earlier ball ended Waterman fixed clip. Nonetheless it remains a lovely and quite rare pen from an excellent stable. I have listed it in “fair” condition and priced it accordingly. It is in full working order and will provide many more years of writing pleasure. It measures 14cm with cap on and 17.5cm with cap on barrel end. Suitable, even in its current condition, to add to a vintage fountain pen collection or to use everyday if you prefer a wet writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless otherwise stated and are bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request.

Conway Stewart No. 60L - Blue Herringbone | Stock number: 5388 |
![]() Click for a larger version of this picture.
Medium nib, Lever fill system. |
Sold |
This vintage fountain pen was made by Conway Stewart, in England, in the mid 1950’s. At the time it was a new plastic design which came in three striking colour combinations – green and black, red and black and this, the blue and black. The design later became known as the Herringbone pattern. The model, the 60L, was also unusual measuring 13.5cm with cap on and 16.7cm with cap on barrel end, it is longer than a standard Conway model. The cap has a long Conway rolled gold clip with a very wide rolled gold cap band. The barrel states “Conway Stewart 60L – Made in England” and has the original Conway lever. The nib states “Duro – Conway Stewart 14ct Gold 60” and has a medium point. There is very little age wear to this colourful and unusual vintage pen so I have stated condition as very good. Suitable to add to a vintage fountain pen collection or to use as an everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless otherwise stated and are bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request.

Waterman Lady Patricia - Persian | Stock number: 5489 |
![]() Click for a larger version of this picture.
Medium nib, Lever fill system. |
Sold |
This vintage fountain pen, which Waterman called the Lady Patricia, was created in 1930 for the female hand, following the successful sales of the Waterman Patrician range – a much larger fountain pen aimed primarily at the male market. The Stationery Trades’ Journal of the time (November 1930) praised its “slender careful lines and smart modish colour” It was marketed as having a “smart, modern, feminine cap clasp – holding the pen securely in place, even in the most crowded handbag.” The first Lady Patricia was presented to Miss Amy Johnson (1903-1941) the English female aviator who carried a Waterman fountain pen during her daring solo flight from England to Australia. It was marketed in a range of patterns and colours – this one is called Persian. In this particular example, the cap top, clip, single decorated cap band and lever are gold fill. This delightful, and quite rare - particularly in this finish - vintage pen is in good condition with a crisp imprint which states “Waterman’s Fountain Pen, Reg.U.S. Pat. Off. Made in U.S.A.” with the Waterman’s “Ideal” logo. The nib, with its smooth medium point, states “Waterman’s Ideal Canada 2”so this has obviously been replaced over the years. Condition is good with only minor brassing to the trim. It measures 11cm with cap on and 13.7cm with cap on barrel end. It is a stylish vintage pen and a true reflection of its period. It is suitable for use everyday but will also sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Parker 51 - Jet Black - Polished Steel Cap | Stock number: 4195 |
![]() Click for a larger version of this picture.
Medium nib, Aerometric fill system. |
Sold |
This vintage pen was made by Parker in the early 50’s. Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Its contribution to design is evidenced by its display in the Design Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and it has been marketed as “51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular version is in classic jet black and has a polished stainless steel cap rather than the usual English Lustraloy. This, combined with the lack of branding on the barrel means it is likely that this is an American production 51. Condition is good with only minor age wear to the pen (including some wear to the clutch ring) and cap. The crown of the cap has the usual Parker “51” “Jewel” which has its original colour and remains in good condition. It comes with a Parker 51 medium point nib. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. It measures 13.7cm with cap on and 15.1cm with cap on barrel end. The Parker 51 was an outstandingly popular fountain pen in its day and remains a stylish and extremely good “workhorse” today. It is an excellent vintage pen for both everyday use and for signing that important letter/ document. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless otherwise stated and are bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request. Filling instructions will be sent with your order.

It has the stylishSheaffer inlaid nib with a medium point which states "Sheaffer U.S.A.". Whilst in this instance it is not a gold nib but Sheaffer’s metal version, it is a pleasing nib to use.
