This not so very vintage fountain pen was made by Parker around 1990. In the words of the Parker brochure of the time “It captures the classic elegance and style that made the original Duofold a design landmark of the 1920’s.” This, the larger Centennial size measures 13.7cm long with cap on and 17.5cm long with cap on barrel end. The attractive finish Parker termed “Marbled Blue”. The trim is 23 karat gold plated and the cap has the longer, more durable clip and raised cap band. The 18ct Parker “arrow” nib has a medium italic point and is a pleasure to use. It has a converter filling system so you can use either a Parker ink cartridge or bottle ink. Currently it is set up for bottle ink however a Parker ink cartridge can easily be inserted. Condition is very good with only minor age wear. It is an attractive, large, near vintage fountain pen which will provide many years of writing service and is a fine tribute to the original Duofolds of the 1920’s and 1930’s. It has been bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection will be carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request.

Fine to Medium nib, Lever fill system.
Condition: Good
Colour: Bronze and Grey Marble

This vintage fountain pen was made by Waterman, in Canada, between 1931 and 1938. The model is a No.32 and it has an attractive bronze and grey marble finish with metal trim on the clip, lever and single cap band. The strong imprint on the barrel states “Waterman’s Fountain Pen – Made in Canada” – with the Waterman “Ideal” logo. It has a Waterman’s 14ct W2A” nib with a fine to medium point. It is an attractive, well proportioned, vintage pen from a fine stable. Condition is good overall but with some marks to the metal trim on the clip as can be seen in the photograph. The marble effect finish is actually quite difficult to photograph and you will see that it appears to have an imperfection at the top of the cap but this is in fact just the marbling. It measures 13cm with cap on and 16.4cm with cap on barrel end. Suitable for everyday use it will, once again, provide many years of active service. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request.

This vintage fountain pen and pencil set, in what appears to be its original box, was made by the Canadian offshoot of Parker around 1928. With its classic black and rolled gold trim it is in surprisingly good condition for its age with only minor age wear overall. Of interest to collectors will be the fact that it has the number “13” on the end of the barrel blind cap. Whilst there are references to Parker numbering for the period, in my experience, it is quite rare to find an example. The cap has two gold filled bands and Parker ball ended clip with the words “PAT. SEP. 5.16 PARKER”. The pen barrel has the words “Geo S. Parker Fountain Pen – Duofold Jr. – Toronto Canada” and the "Lucky Curve" emblem. The medium point nib states “Parker Lucky Curve”. The “Lucky Curve” relates to the type of feed which was used by Parker until August 1928. From that date the “Lucky Curve” feed was replaced, as in this case, by a more conventional feed but the barrel imprints continued to be used until stocks were exhausted.

The pencil with its matching ball ended clip is also a junior size and an expel/repel filler. It still has its original (albeit now rather grubby) rubber and a lead in place with some in the lead storage chamber under the rubber. Refill leads are 1.2mm Yard O’Led obtainable from good stationers. The barrel text reads “Parker Duofold USA”. It is not uncommon in this period to find Canadian and American items in the same box as initially Parker sent parts to Canada to meet production needs.

The box, whilst still having a feint tobacco smell (!) is overall in good condition. There is age wear to the internal lining but no ink staining. The exterior also as some age wear with a small amount of scuffing on the bottom but a pleasing patina overall. It sports the “Parker” branding on the top and has a satisfying working closing clasp.

The fountain pen measures 11.7cm with cap on and 14.8cm with cap on barrel end. The pencil measures 12.3cm excluding lead length. The box measures 15.4cm. Suitable for everyday writing or to add to a vintage fountain pen collection this is a quite rare pen and pencil combination, particularly in this condition and in its original box. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. (unless stated otherwise) and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions on both the pen and pencil will be sent with your order.

English Button Filler - Blue, bronze and black marble

Medium nib, Button fill system.
Condition: Good
Colour: Blue, bronze and black marble
c1930

Sold

This English made button filling vintage fountain pen cannot be attributed to any particular manufacturer but is typical of the English fountain pens of the 1930’s. The colour and pattern are most striking – a mixture of pale blue, bronze and black marbling with a gold tone trim. The nib is a “Conway 14kt 3N” with a medium point. It is a bit of a hybrid as this is obviously not the original nib as it is not a Conway pen, and perhaps not the original section, however the combination does work well and it is a pleasing nib to use. It is a fairly small pen measuring 11.9cm with cap on and 14.2cm with cap on barrel end. It is in good condition with a slightly stiff filling button but very little age wear. This stylish, interesting and unusual vintage button filler will provide many more years of service as an everyday writer. This vintage pen was not serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. but has passed our quality tests and will be further bench tested before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request.

This vintage pen was made in England by Parker, according to the barrel date, in the third quarter of 1953. Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Its contribution to design is evidenced by its display in the Design Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and it has been marketed as 51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular model has what Parker termed a Teal Blue coloured body (it is a cross between green and blue and slightly lighter than that shown in the picture) with a lustraloy cap. It is in good condition overall with some minor surface wear to body and a minor ding on the cap but this is reflectd in the price. The Parker 51 nib, stating Parker Made in England R.U. 1953, has a fine point. It measures 14cm with cap on and 15.2cm with cap on barrel end. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. Parker 51’s are not only a collector’s item but also an excellent everyday workhorse. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request.

This Japanese scene desk base, on a blue field with gilt outline, was made by Carltonware in England for Parker in the 1930’s. It is in very good condition and is complete with the black tulip which holds the pen in place whilst on the desk. It has the Parker branding on the edge with the Carltonware logo on the base. There is some minor wear to the gilt on the edging as can be seen on the photograph. This rare and exquisite lozenge shaped base depicts a bridge with pagoda over a river with exotic birds in flight. The desk base measures 16.6cm in length, 9.5cm depth and 2cm in height – a good size to fit on even a busy desk.

It comes complete with a Parker Duofold Junior vintage fountain pen of the period in a finish termed “Lapis Blue” which was extremely popular at the time and remains so today. It complements the desk base beautifully. The fountain pen has only minor colour variation and a strong imprint stating “Duofold Jr. Geo S. Parker Fountain Pen Janesville. WIS U.S.A. Pat.4-25-11” and the “Lucky Curve” banner. The “Lucky Curve” relates to the original feed used by Parker for their 20’s Duofolds. From 1928 onward this curved feed was replaced with a more conventional feed due to servicing difficulties, whilst retaining the spear head feature. However, as in this case, Parker continued to use the LC barrel imprint for some time. The bottom of the barrel has the original sticker which states “13 Fine 5.00” The cap has the Parker rolled gold ball ended clip and two cap bands. The Parker nib states “Parker Duofold Pen Made in U.S.A. and is a fine - leading to medium nib and a smooth writer. This vintage pen is a button filler which means that you unscrew a blind cap at the end of the barrel to reveal a button which you press to expel the air in the sac and depress to allow the ink to enter – a clean and efficient filling method. This vintage pen measures 14.5cm with cap on, 15.2 cm with cap on barrel end and 18.5cm with the taper on barrel end.

It also comes with a desk pen taper which will, as advertised by Parker at the time, “Make a tapered desk pen out of this pocket pen – change back and forth at will – use the same pen two ways” You simply unscrew the cap at the bottom of the barrel (the filling end) and screw the taper on, providing excellent balance whilst it is sitting in the desk base tulip. When you wish to use the pen elsewhere simply unscrew the taper and replace the bottom cap.

An excellent example of Parker history. A rare item which has stood the test of time and is equally serviceable today as a desk set and as a portable everyday writer.

All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order.

This rare sterling silver Swan vintage pen was made by Mabie Todd Ltd. under the Swan brand in the late 1930’s. The hallmark is London 1938. It is a lovely pen in a finish that was termed a “Barleycorn” design. It is in good condition overall but has seen some changes during its lifetime. The clip has been replaced with a Swan accommodation clip (this means that the clip will accommodate most pen caps) and the nib has been replaced with an English “Summit” nib which has a smooth medium-broad point. These changes are reflected in the price. It is a “leverless short” pen which means that it fills by twisting the knob at the bottom of the pen barrel and that it is slightly shorter than the average pen, measuring 11.1cm with cap on and 13.1cm with cap on barrel end. It is a rare fountain pen, in good condition with only minor age wear, which will provide pleasure in a collection and long service if pressed into everyday use.

Parker Thrift Time Duofold

Parker Thrift Time Duofold

Medium nib, Button fill system.
Condition: Good
Colour: Gold leaf effect on cream
1931

Sold

This ladies ring top vintage fountain pen was made by Parker in 1931. It was produced during The Great Depression when Parker marketed a line of economy pens known as “Thrift Time” models. They were in plastic colours and patterns which were not otherwise available in the rest of the Parker catalogue. This particular pen has an unusual and pleasing design resembling flakes of gold leaf on a cream background. There is some colour variation between the cap and the barrel but this is very common caused, in part, by the sulphur from the inner sac – hence it is the barrel which is affected rather than the cap. It does not detract from the overall elegance of the pen. The barrel imprint reads “Geo S. Parker Fountain Pen – Made in Canada”. The medium point nib, with a straight feed, reads “Parker Pen Canada 3”. In common with a fashion of the time it has a ring on the top of the cap rather than a clip. It was designed to have a ribbon or chain through the cap ring which enabled ladies to wear it around the neck or gentlemen to hang it from a watch chain. The standard cap version was advertised in the “National Geographic” magazine in December 1931 as “A Thrift Time…Creation by Parker”. It measures 11.6cm with cap on and 14.2cm with cap on barrel end. Whilst offered as a “Thrift” pen at the time, its rarity value and quality mean it is far from that today. This delightful vintage fountain pen will be a strong addition to a Parker collection and may also be used as an everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge upon request.

This vintage pen is one of the successful Targa range - a model produced by the Sheaffer Pen Company from 1976 to 1999. This particular example (model 1005) has a 23ct gold plated fluted overlay with black inlay on both ends. The stylish Sheaffer 14ct gold inlaid nib with a broad point states "Sheaffer U.S.A. 585 14k". The text around the lip of the cap states "Sheaffer U.S.A. Gold Electro Plated". You will see from the photograph that the condition of the nib and pen body is very good. As you would expect it has the Sheaffer "Lifetime" dot on the clip. It currently has the Sheaffer ink cartridge filling system however a piston filler unit is available to enable you to fill from an ink bottle if you prefer – at no extra charge. This fine example of a Sheaffer Targa measures 13.7cm with cap on and 15.5cm with cap on end. The Targa range is fast becoming highly collectable. It was available in a wide range of finishes which makes it an interesting model to collect as well as a pleasure to use everyday – particularly if you prefer a broader nib point. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Parker Victory - Geometric

Stock number: 5334

Parker Victory - Geometric

Click for a larger version of this picture.

Very Fine nib, Button fill system.
Condition: Good
Colour: Brown marble and black
c1939

Sold

This vintage button filling pen was made by Parker around 1939. It has an unusual finish in brown marble and black which Parker termed “Geometric” but today it is more commonly known as the “Toothbrush” pattern – if you look in the picture at the black area within the pattern you will see why. A fairly uncommon finish it is normally found on the Parker Duofolds of the period made in America. This is a Parker “Victory” which was made in Canada around the same period and it is unusual to find a Victory in this pattern. It features a tapered clip with Parker branding and a broad cap band. You will note in the clear portion of the section (the part where the nib fits into the barrel) it has a black breather tube going down into the barrel. This is in fact a dummy and oddly was never intended to be used as part of the filling mechanism. The text on the barrel reads “Parker Victory, Made in Canada, REGD T.M.S”. The nib has a very fine point and states “Parker Fountain Pen 14k W”. It is a small, slender pen measuring 12cm with cap on and 14.7cm with cap on barrel end. It is in good condition but with some brassing to the trim a small amount of "play" on the clip and some“nibble” marks on the blind cap which covers the filling button at the bottom of the barrel – it was obviously a well used and no doubt well loved pen - but these imperfections are reflected in the price. So an interesting and unusual Victory from an excellent period in Parker’s history. As such it is suitable both to use as an everyday writer (if you prefer a very fine nib) or to add to a vintage fountain pen collection. This vintage pen was not serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. but has passed our quality tests and will be further bench tested before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request.
