The magnificent “51 Flighter” was introduced by Parker in the U.S.A. in 1949. This particular example whilst featuring the rolled gold cap band which was subsequently dropped, is slightly later – estimated at 1953. The cap and barrel are in a metal Parker termed “lustraloy” a finish which visually aligned it to the aircraft which inspired its design. The advertising at its launch, which also stressed its dependability and durability stated: “The Flighter…a new Parker “51”. Here is a foretaste of the future – a smooth writing beauty fashioned in a modern mood. Beneath its silvery exterior, there’s the most advanced pen ever created…” . The aerodynamic design of the Parker 51 fountain pen has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Its contribution to design is evidenced by its display in the Design Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and it has been marketed as “51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular model with its lustraloy finish and gold fill cap band, cap tassle and arrow clip is a classic vintage Parker. It has a Parker 51 fine to medium nib. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release four times and this vintage pen is ready to use.
This is a fair to good example of a rare and classic vintage Parker fountain pen. It has some age wear to both body and trim and this is reflected in the price. It measures 13.8cm with cap on 15cm with cap on barrel end. The Parker “51” is a stylish pen and an excellent everyday workhorse. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request.

This vintage pen was made in England by Parker in the mid 50’s. Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Its contribution to design is evidenced by its display in the Design Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and has been marketed as “51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular “51” has a body colour which Parker termed “Forest Green” - a very dark green and one which is quite rare to find today. Unusually the Parker rolled gold cap has a solid green “jewel” rather than the grey usually found - whilst this is possibly a replacement, the combination makes for a stylish vintage pen. The Parker nib has a smooth medium point. Condition is good with only minor age wear but more noticeable on the rim of the gold fill cap (as you will see from the photograph). The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. It measures 14cm with cap on and 15cm with cap on barrel end. “51”’s are always a good workhorse - suitable for everyday use and, particularly in this case, for adding to a “51” collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. This vintage pen was made in England by Parker, according to the barrel date, in the second quarter of 1952. Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Its contribution to design is evidenced by its display in the Design Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and it has been marketed as “51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular model has a wine coloured body and a rolled gold cap. It is good condition overall with some surface wear and one minor ding on the cap to the left of the clip, which I have highlighted in the photograph – these minor imperfections are reflected in the price. This Parker “51” Trio of vintage fountain pen, expel/repel pencil and ballpoint are all in working order. The “51” aerometric filling fountain pen was introduced by Parker in 1948. Its aerodynamic design made it a classic and the plaudits it received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Towards the end of the 50’s Parker extended the “51” range to include Trio sets of which this is a good example. They were understandably popular at the time. This particular trio has a wine coloured body a colour which Parker called “Burgundy”. They are all fitted with the Parker rolled gold cap. All three items are in good condition with only minor age wear, slightly more on the ballpoint as is to be expected and all are complete with unfaded cap jewels. The Parker 51 nib is a fine to medium smooth writer. The ballpoint takes modern Parker refills – you will note that the tip of the ballpoint is metal rather than rolled gold. The expel/repel pencil is in working order, however there is no longer access to the rubber contained inside the cap – this is reflected in price. It will take modern day replacement leads. The fountain pen measures 13.8cm with cap on and 15cm with cap on barrel end. The rotary pencil measures 12.5cm and the ballpoint 13cm. A good vintage writing trio to either add to give as a gift or for personal use as an everyday writing set for the home or office. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless advised otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge upon request. | |

Medium nib, Sliding ink converter fill system. |
£285.00 |

Price: £285.00 | |
This exceptionally popular fountain pen range was launched by Parker in the USA in 1964 and, in its various finishes, was produced for the next thirty years. Parker called it the “75” following on from their usage of numbers to denote models which restarted with the “51”. Whilst this “75” fountain pen has a flat gold plated tassle end, it is not the earliest example of this design, as it has the plastic screw thread section rather than the metal thread on the earlier models. The advantage of the “75” nib unit is that the nib collar will rotate if wished to move the nib to an angle to suit your writing style. The earlier models had an “0”on the nib collar which made it easier to see where you had rotated from – this “75”, being a slightly later model, does not have this centre mark but the nib angle option remains. It has a sliding Parker converter fitted to take ink from bottles and, by removing the converter, it will take Parker ink cartridges. The design, a cross hatched pattern in sterling silver with gold plated trim, is called “Ciselle”. It is said that the finish was inspired by a cigarette case made by a London silversmith. With its long Parker arrow clip, flat ends to cap and barrel and long hatched gripping section, it is likely that this “75” dates from 1970. The band around the cap states “Parker Sterling Silver Made in the USA” with the Parker logo. It has a Parker USA nib with a medium point. It measures 13cm with cap on and 14.2cm with cap on barrel end. The ballpoint “75”, again in the Ciselle pattern of sterling cross hatch with gold plated trim, is offered for sale with the fountain pen, and included in the price. With its dished tassle cap end it was most likely made in the mid 1970’s and issued to compliment the fountain pen. The band around the cap states “Parker Sterling Cap and Barrel USA” and the method of expelling the ballpoint is cap activated - by depressing the whole of the cap top rather than just a top button on later models. The cap unscrews from the barrel to replace the ballpoint which is a standard Parker ballpoint refill. It measures 12.8cm in length and currently has a black Parker refill.
The pencil “75”, again in the Ciselle pattern of sterling cross hatch with gold plated trim, forms the final part of the “set” and is included in the price. Again with a dished end tassle, it most likely dates from the mid 1970’s. It is in full working order and recently serviced by an expert pencil mechanic. It has an expel/repel filling method with a 0.9mm lead. It has slightly more wear than the fountain pen and ballpoint and measures 12.7cm in length. It currently has a lead in the chamber as can be seen in the photograph.
This is an excellent late vintage writing “set” in good condition with only minor age wear as can be seen from the photographs. All items are a pleasing weight in the hand. The fountain pen has a comforting click to the replacement of the cap on the barrel following use and the ballpoint and pencil have a smooth action. Suitable for everyday use or to add to a Parker collection.

Medium nib, Button fill system. |
£85.00 |
|
Price: £85.00 | |
This vintage fountain pen was made by Parker in America around 1939. It is a button filling model called the Parker DeLuxe Challenger. It was available in black, burgundy marble, grey and this, the green marble. It is an attractive model with its chrome plated trim and chunky styling. The barrel imprint is still clear and states “Parker DeLuxe Challenger, Made in U.S.A., Parker Pen Co. Janesville,WIS”. The nib states “Parker Pen – Made in U.S.A. .28.”. It has a smooth medium point and is a pleasing writer. It is a fairly standard length pen measuring 13cm with cap on and 15.4cm with cap on barrel end. Condition I have stated as fair to good – it has age wear on the barrel and cap bands and some nibble marks on the blind cap which covers the barrel filling button, however these are reflected in the price. An unusual Parker, obviously well loved in the past and once again ready for use. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. unless stated otherwise and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch.
